Cycle of Prayer 24-30 August

Reading this week’s prayers is Neil Traynor. Neil was installed as Canon Treasurer of Salisbury Cathedral in April 2026. He is responsible for the care and conservation of the Cathedral’s fabric, treasures and estates, while supporting its work in sustainability and environmental stewardship. Before coming to Salisbury, Neil was Associate Vicar in the Holland Park Benefice in the Diocese of London, where he helped lead a growing church community with a strong tradition of music, worship and engagement with the arts. Ordained at Wakefield Cathedral, he has served in parish and cathedral ministry in the dioceses of Wakefield, Oxford and London.

Monday 24 August: Bartholomew the Apostle 

Marden Vale, Calne Deanery 

Loving God, 

We raise to you the benefice of Marden Vale, and we ask for your blessing upon them, including the clergy, Caspar Bush and Sarah Errington.

Our God, 

We thank you today for the communities of Lyneham and Woodhill. We pray for your blessing upon all those who live and worship here, including the Revd Richard Holness.

Wednesday 26 August: Marlborough Deanery 

Loving God,  

We pray for your blessing on the Marlborough deanery, for all those who minister there, including Rural Dean Beth Hutton and Lay chair Sarah Musgrave. 

In our prayers for our link diocese, we pray for the Right Revd Hassan Osman, Assistant Bishop of Kadugli & Nuba Mountains in Sudan.

Living Lord, 

We raise to you in prayer the community of Ridgeway. We thank you for the ministry of the Revd Roger Powell.

Friday 28 August: Upper Kennet, Marlborough Deanery 

Heavenly Father,  

We raise to you today the communities of Upper Kennet. We pray for the blessing of your Holy Spirit on this place, including the Revd Jonathan Poston.

Heavenly Father,  

We thank you for all who worship at and live in the communities of Marlborough. We thank you for the clergy, Chris Smith and Pete Sainsbury.
