Reading this week's prayers is Anthony Childs. "I’m delighted to be joining the Benefice of Ferndown and Hampreston for my curacy. My wife, Katherine, is an English teacher, and we have two sons.
I grew up in Dagenham, East London. Before training for ordained ministry, I studied Music, with a particular interest in performance, composition, and the ways music can build community. I have spent my career working in technology, where I came to believe that technology, at its best, is about serving people, solving problems, and creating space for connection — values that feel very close to ministry.
For the last ten years, I’ve been part of the church community in Weymouth. My call to ordained life has gradually grown over many years, shaped by a deepening sense that God was nudging me toward a more dedicated form of service. I’m deeply grateful to my family and to all the people who have supported and cared for me on this journey.
I’ve had the privilege of training at Sarum College, and I’m excited now to join the life of the benefice — to observe what God is already doing in Ferndown and Hampreston, and to join in with it. I’d really value your prayers as I take these first steps in ordained ministry. "
