Director of Ministry and People (Interim job share with Caroline Jowett- Ive)
Karen provides strategic leadership for the Diocesan Vocations Framework, and in particular she leads a network of Vocations Advisers who accompany those exploring a potential call to lay or ordained licensed ministry. Karen oversees the discernment and commissioning processes for licensed lay ministry and commissioned lay ministers such as LPAs and LWLs, and offers regular ‘Exploring God’s Call’ events for enquirers. She welcomes contact from those discerning a call to ministry, in collaboration with their own local clergy and ministry teams.

Caroline Jowett- Ive

Working with us on a consultancy basis, Caroline co-leads the Ministry and People function with Karen to ensure a joined up approach to supporting clergy, lay ministry, parishes and DBF staff so that all may flourish. Caroline brings recent experience as the former deputy diocesan secretary and Director of People and Safeguarding in Bristol Diocese.

Diocesan Director of Ordinands and IME Coordinator
As Ministry Formation team leader, Nigel supports and resources the needs of those exploring a vocation and those discerned for authorised and commissioned ministries (lay and ordained).
As the Diocesan Director of Ordinands (DDO), Nigel is responsible for guiding the Diocese’s candidates for ordained ministry through the processes of discernment and the pre-ordination phase of their training until first appointment.

Ministerial Formation Resource Administrator
Andrea provides administrative support to the Ministry Formation team that include initial vocation enquiries; supporting the work of discernment by handling candidates for ordained ministry through the Church of England selections process until the point of licensing to a first post; supporting the work of providing ongoing learning and development of curates in title posts within the Diocese; supporting the work of discernment and training of Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs), pre and post admission. Andrea is Nigel’s personal assistant.

Keli heads up the Growing Younger Team, who are responsible for supporting mission and ministry with the younger and missing generations. The team offer the provision of training, resources, bespoke support and networking for those working in these ministries, whether clergy, paid worker/minister or volunteer. Whatever support you are looking for in this vital area of ministry, Keli and the team would love to hear from you.
