Six new Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs) will be admitted to the office of Licensed Lay Minister in Salisbury Cathedral on 26 September. Licensed Lay Ministers are enablers of mission, teachers of faith and leaders in church and society.

Join us in welcoming and praying for (pictured left to right) Nick, Natasha, Andrew, Rachel, Tim and Katy.

From his home church of Stratton, St Mary’s, Nick will be licensed to serve the six parishes within the benefice of Charminster, Stinsford and the Chalk Stream Villages.

Nick sees his ministry as a call to be active in the life of the Christian community or on the margins, engaging with those of all faiths and none and proclaiming the gospel.

“Like Isaiah, I have heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ ”

Natasha is returning to the benefice of Trowbridge St Thomas and West Ashton after a training secondment to the Canalside Benefice.

“I am looking forward to using and honing the skills I have learnt in my training for preaching and praying. My passion is exploring the Bible and discovering and sharing practical ways we can live out our faith. This is rooted in prophetic and creative prayer, which underpins everything.”

Andrew will be licensed to Moreton Woodsford and Crossways with Tincleton. “Completing my LLM training felt not like an ending, but like the beginning of a new chapter. It has allowed me to share the love of God with those around me in deeper and more practical ways. I am now able to give more time to pastoral care and to work closely with our new pioneer minister as we seek to breathe life back into our community and congregation. Alongside this, I hope to continue sharing my love of God through my role as an honorary chaplain, serving both our local hospital and the mental health community.”

Rachel will be licensed to the benefice of Spire Hill, where she has already been active in pioneering new ways to connect with the wider community.

“I’m excited to be inspiring and nurturing people searching for comfort or answers in God, whether in Church, in hospital chaplaincy, schools or community projects. Wherever the Holy Spirit takes me, I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Tim will be licensed to the benefice of Wylye and Till Valley, where he has ministered as both a Lay Pastoral Assistant and Worship Leader for many years, also serving as a Retail Chaplain for Alabaré.

“Being in a benefice of nine Churches, the ministry opportunities are many and varied. I am looking forward to joining the ministry team to walk alongside those people in our parishes who seek love and fellowship, both inside and outside of the Church family.”

With a background in both nursing and farming, Katy will be licensed to the benefice of Ridgeway, Marlborough.

“As I begin my journey as a lay minister, I look forward to discovering where God is leading me and to allowing this experience to deepen my faith and understanding of His calling. Through serving others, I hope to grow spiritually by listening to their stories and experiences, being a supportive, caring presence in our church community, and remaining open to what God may be teaching me on this sacred and precious journey.”
