Foundation Governors Needed
Have you considered being a school governor?
School Governors have a very important role to play and are one of the biggest volunteer forces in the country. St Mark's CE Primary School are looking to recruit foundation governors.
If you would like to help shape future generations and be involved in supporting this school then we would love to hear from you.
Governing boards have 3 core functions:
- Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- Hold leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils as well as the effective and efficient management of staff.
- Oversee the financial performance of the organisation.
Essential skills for school governors include excellent communication skills, critical listening and the ability to ask effective questions.
Foundation governors are involved in all aspects of school governance and have a particular responsibility for the ethos and vision of the school along with upholding the school values. You will work alongside all other governors and the headship team to support governance across the school.
Full training and support is available for all governors. Governors will be asked to attend meetings and visit the school. If you can spare a couple of hours a week then please get in touch as we would love to hear from you.
Being a school governor is an enjoyable and rewarding role and you will be able to develop your skills whilst making an important contribution to the school and its pupils.
You do not need to be a parent of a child in school in order to become a foundation governor. At this time, we are not recruiting parents of St Mark's School pupils. We are looking for people that have an interest in education and shaping a faith based education.
We welcome applications from anyone irrespective of age, gender, background and faith. As a school that embraces all faiths and cultures, we would like to have a diverse board of governors and would welcome your application.
If you would like to become a foundation governor or would like some further information, then please get in touch with Teresa Grist, Clerk to the Governors - t.grist@st-marks.bournemouth.sch.uk
