The Building Management Portal (BMP) is the Church of England’s national online system for managing applications relating to works on churches, their contents and churchyards. The Building Management Portal replaced the previous platform, the Online Faculty System, in October 2026.
The BMP is used for List A, List B and faculty applications, as well as associated casework, consultation, documents and decision stages. It has been designed to make the application process easy to follow and to provide consistency in the way casework is managed, with clear information about application stages, supporting documents and the actions needed as an application progresses.

How to access the Building Management Portal
You can access the Building Management Portal through the CofE Portal. This provides a secure login route and includes two-factor authentication. Some users will also need to complete a one-time registration process so that their role, diocese and church access can be assigned correctly.
Historic cases from the Online Faculty System
Historic cases from the Online Faculty System, which closed at the end of September 2026, were migrated to the Building Management Portal when it went live in October 2026.
