Sometimes groups of Travellers will stop for a few days in a lay-by, on a piece of wasteground, or in a public park, occasionally near a church.
Many groups will appreciate a visit from a church member. If you are a minister, then wear a dog collar or a symbol of your ministry. If you are a lay person, then perhaps wear a cross.
– Introduce yourself and your church
– Ask if there is anything practical you can do; for example, people might need help reading documents or registering with a doctor
– People might ask for water
– Ask if they’d like you to pray with them
– If you are a minister, you might be asked to bless a trailer
– If you are invited in for a cup of tea always say yes!
