The Ven Antony MacRow-Wood is to take over the role of Director of Finance and Asset Management for one year, following the resignation of Nigel Jenner.
Antony is stepping in at a critical time in the time in the development of financial strategy for the DBF and the Diocesan purpose and plan. We need to establish clear proposals for the future and at the same time deliver operational financial management as well as effective provision and care of clergy houses. After a successful 12 years in the role, our Diocesan Surveyor Shawn Donneky is also leaving for a new role elsewhere.
Antony has been closely involved in diocesan finance as a member of the Finance Committee as well as bringing a close understanding of parish finance and clergy property. He has been Chair of the Board of the Salisbury Diocesan Board of Finance Building Consultancy. The perspective of an Archdeacon will bring a clear focus on the local church within our financial and property strategy and management.
This move and associated interim arrangements will increase the flexibility in how the roles of Archdeacon are deployed within the Diocese.
Archdeacon Antony will provide support to the DBF by covering the role of the Director of Finance and Asset Management for one year from 1 March.

Bishop Karen said: “We are extremely grateful for Archdeacon Penny and Lucy Holt, who have offered to cover some of the gaps left by Antony more locally. By instrument of delegation from Bishop Stephen, Penny will take responsibility for DAC work across the Dorset archdeaconry as well as continuing her own role and will offer support to Lucy. Lucy in turn (thanks to her churchwardens and PCC) will have the functions of an archdeacon delegated to her and has agreed to give 2 days a week as Acting Assistant Archdeacon, to offer support to churches and clergy in the North Bournemouth and Poole, and Wimborne deaneries, this will include ministry review, appointments and pastoral support (to begin primarily after Easter). Purbeck deanery will be overseen by Penny, and Milton and Blandford by Penny and Antony (who will continue to be involved in the pastoral organisation there).
“The Sherborne Office at Ash Farm will continue to be a support base for the work, with Vicky and Paul working there fulltime responding to enquiries in the usual way.”
