New podcast on Rural Ministry

One of the cries heard time and time again whenever rural church members gather is how they can effectively communicate good practice and share experiences and resources. Once again, this was strongly fed back to the recent Rural Days in both the north and south of the Diocese.

We all communicate differently, and we all prefer receiving information in different ways. We might prefer reading information, having a conversation with someone, or listening to someone speak.

Mindful of this diversity and keen to get the message out about the challenges and joys of rural ministry, the Rural Hope team decided to experiment with a podcast.

The Rural Symposium, on which the podcast is based, took place in September and brought together a number of rural ministry practitioners and those supporting, funding, and encouraging rural ministry from across the local and national Church.

With such high-quality speakers, it seemed sensible to try and capture some of the days stories and learning to share on a wider scale.

Podcast producer, Andy Taylor from BWLB, recorded each talk in full and interviewed participants on the day to get feedback in the moment. A highlights package was then created with links recorded at home to join each segment together.

We hope you find the podcast enjoyable, and would love your feedback about whether this method of sharing content and information is useful to you.

Perhaps a series of podcasts about rural mission and ministry might be something you'd like in the future?

Please do share the Rural Hope podcast widely, and give any feedback to either Jo Neary at JNeary@Sarum.ac.uk, or Sarah Keen at Sarah.Keen@Salisbury.Anglican.org
