Archbishop of Canterbury Mission Weekend

A diocesan wide mission weekend is to take place from 9th-11th June with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Archbishop Justin is coming to meet with young people, students, volunteers and communities to share the good news of Jesus’ love.

A small team of evangelists will spread out across the diocese to share their own stories of faith and transformation. They will lead services and training events around the diocese in support of the Archbishop’s mission and joining with the diocese in reaching out to make Jesus Christ known.

Archbishop Justin will visit schools, an army base, a prison, join in a young people’s event and spend time with the Gypsy and Traveller community during the weekend.

The mission will culminate in a celebration event in Salisbury Cathedral Close on the afternoon of 11 June.

Bishop Stephen said: “We are so looking forward to Archbishop Justin coming to share his faith and encourage us in our own. As we prepare for the mission weekend, I hope everyone will join with me in praying that this weekend will allow people to encounter Christ in new ways.”

Archbishop Justin said: "I’m delighted to be visiting Salisbury diocese, to share in its ministry with people from all walks of life in the area. A huge part of Christian mission is sharing the love of Jesus Christ with people as they are, where they are – bringing a joyful and compassionate heart to our neighbourhoods and communities. I pray for all the people of Salisbury diocese and look forward to being with you.”
