Alan Jeans was appointed the Archdeacon of Sarum in 2003. He has served as an Army Cadet Force Chaplain since 2002, and is the Honorary Chaplain to the Rifles Association. He was awarded an MBE for services to Army Chaplaincy in June 2021.
Prior to training for the Ordained Ministry in the Church of England he trained and practiced as a Building Surveyor. Once ordained he served in parishes across Dorset and Wiltshire.
Alan lives in Salisbury, with his wife Anita, a Legal Clerk. They have two grown-up daughters; one a secondary school teacher, and one working as a marketing manager for a large wine merchant.
In his spare time, Alan Jeans enjoys long-distance walking, motor racing marshalling, and his 1962 Land Rover, and 1996 MGF.
