The new archdeacon of Wilts, the Ven Louise Ellis, began her new ministry with a service which formally placed her in post on Saturday.
Louise was ordained in 2007 and has experience in parish ministry in Southwark and Salisbury diocese. She has been working most recently to encourage more people into ministry in the Church of England, and as a priest in Lilliput, Dorset.
The Bishop of Ramsbury, Rt Revd Dr Andrew Rumsey, welcomed Louise into the area.
He said: “Warminster’s bells rang out for Wiltshire’s new archdeacon on Saturday, and it was lovely to see Louise Ellis begin her work here, helping to encourage and oversee the churches in this part of the county. Welcome, Louise!”
Archdeacon Louise said: “It was a wonderful welcome at St Denys Warminster on Saturday to mark the beginning of my ministry as Archdeacon of Wilts. Having spent the last eight years in the south of the diocese I am delighted to be staying the Diocese of Salisbury and am looking forward to getting to know the people, places and communities in Wiltshire.
