For the first time in 14 years, on 26 July the Lambeth Conference will gather in Canterbury. Following this, Salisbury Diocese will welcome over 40 bishops and their spouses from the Episcopal Church of Sudan and South Sudan.
On Monday 8 August, our guests will arrive in Salisbury for a welcome service and lunch, before heading to their host houses. The bishops and their spouses will be scattered across Salisbury Diocese deaneries, and we will hear more about what they get up to next month.
The significance of this trip is two-fold – not only are we welcoming the bishops as our Link Diocese, additonally 2022 marks 50 years of our partnership. You can read more about this connection here.
The Lambeth conference will be attended by the Sudanese bishops, together with bishops from the Anglican Communion from far and wide. It is expected to have a huge impact on the Church, and this year the theme is God’s Church for God’s World – Walking, Listening and Witnessing Together.
The gathering, 26 July – 8 August, will address key issues that the Church faces in the present day, and will also allow space for discussion, as well as rhythms of prayer and worship.
You can read in detail about the conference, and download the prayer guide, here.
