The Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC) is an advisory body that exists to guide parishes on the care of church buildings & churchyards and the proposals of work to them.
Proposals vary from the re-roofing of a church due to storm damage, the updating of fabric or furnishings of churches or churchyards, to the installation of solar panels, which are now widely encouraged under Net Zero guidance and the eco church project the church is currently running.
The DAC have a wide range of voluntary specialists who assist by advising on stain glass, bells, architecture, and textiles for instance. The DAC work closely with the registry office who offer specialist advice, and work alongside the Chancellor who oversees and makes the final decision on applications.
As an advisory committee the DAC has no authority to make final decisions, they are solely here to help, advise and educate anyone involved in the care and maintenance of churches and churchyards across the diocese.
