Parish Giving Scheme

Regular donations provide your church with reliable and predictable income, which helps when planning ahead for ministry and mission, or building projects and repairs.

Parish Giving Scheme is a national scheme, which enables regular giving to any parish church, through Direct Debit, with no cost to the church or the giver.  Although similar to standing or banker's order donations, there are lots of advantages to joining Parish Giving Scheme. One key advantage is an option to opt-in for an automatic inflationary increase, which helps donations maintain their value year-on-year.

NB There is no immediate need to move existing standing order donors to Parish Giving Scheme; you can run both in parallel and move people across as and when they are ready.

Gift Aid small donations scheme (GASDS) eligibility
In any tax year GASDS eligibility is ten times the amount of donations for which the church submits a Gift Aid claim to HMRC. This excludes donations received through the Parish Giving Scheme so to be eligible for GASDS all PGS churches will need to submit at least one direct Gift Aid claim each tax year. To be able to claim the maximum amount of GASDS (£8,000) the church will need to submit a claim for Gift Aid on £800 of donations (800 x 10 = £8,000).

Heritage and Community Giving Resources

Our congregation and church members are the most likely to support ministry and mission, but there will be many people in your local community and beyond who are also keen to donate money to the church, whether they attend services or not.

When we think about our place of worship, we tend to focus on the regular attendee's donations. But for many people, there are other personal or pragmatic reasons for giving.

Our churches are community centres; they can offer friendship through coffee mornings, or toddler groups or families may be interested in continuing traditions by having a christening or other special life event at the local church. Equally, some may see the historical importance of our buildings and part of our country's history and culture for future generations to enjoy.

Make it easy for people in your community to support the church, by asking them to give online.
