Archdeacon of Dorset

Antony became Archdeacon of Dorset in 2015 is currently seconded to Director of Finance and Asset Management. All enquiries to be forwarded to Archdeacon Penny or Lucy Holt. He chairs the Board of Education and leads the diocesan link with Evreux in Normandy.

Archdeacon Antony was ordained in 1992 and served as a curate and team vicar in UPA parishes in Swindon and Weymouth before moving to Poole in 2004 to become Team Rector of the North Poole Ecumenical Team. 

He spent his teenage years in Salisbury and has long connections with the diocese having served on a Diocesan Youth Committee in the 1970s – the first of many diocesan committees! He studied Politics and Economic and Social History at York University before moving to Bristol to train as a Chartered Accountant. Once there he worked first for Deloittes and then Rolls Royce (aero-engines) and met his wife to be, Dawn, singing in a church choir. They were married in 1987 and then two years later moved to Cambridge to train for ministry at Westcott House. 

From the start of March 2023, Antony's predominant role will be Director of Finance and Asset Management. His working week will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday as Director of Finance and Wednesday as Archdeacon of Dorset.

Antony and Dawn have three grown up children. Outside of the church he has a long-standing involvement with the Credit Union movement and was founding President of the Churches’ Mutual Credit Union.

For relaxation he enjoys gardening, holidaying in France and golf. He is blessed by the fact that Broadstone Golf Course is 500 yards from the Archdeacon’s house!
