On Sunday 2nd February, Christ Church Creekmoor celebrated it’s 40th Anniversary in style, when both congregations joined together along with visitors from the past, to celebrate over 5000 acts of worship within the church.
There have been 3 building projects over the last 40 years, beginning with Revd Edward Pogmore, who launched the original build of Christ Church Creekmoor in 1984/5, (before then, the church met in his garage at the Vicarage, once a month).
Revd Chris Robinson became Vicar in 1989 and in 2019/20 Rev Janice Audibert lead the ‘Room to Grow’ building project which enabled the church to expand outwards and upwards, providing us with a new Community Hub, and even more ways to reach out into the community, especially with popular ‘Community Hub Café’.
During these 40 years, Christ Church Creekmoor has had 4 Anglican Vicars, 4 Ordinands, 4 Curates, 1 Associate, 1 LLM, 118 LPA’s, 1 Cemes Student, 5 Moorland Students and 4 Careforce Workers from India, Uganda, Kenya and The Gambia.
There was an incredible atmosphere as Rev Rachel Hawkins led the celebration service, which was full of people praising and thanking God for this amazing church and all its family over the many years. Archdeacon Penny shared some encouraging and inspiring words and rededicated the doors opening into the church.
Miche Bird, Children's, Youth and Communications coordinator, said this "The celebration ended with one of the eldest and youngest members, cutting the cake together, we are one big family here at Christ Church Creekmoor, with God at the centre, making Jesus known, and raising generations to love and to serve.
Here’s to the next 40 years and seeing what God has in store for Christ Church Creekmoor!"
