The Ven Dr Sue Groom, Archdeacon of Wilts, dubbed Aquadeacon by Grapevine because of her passion for swimming, is using her love for the sport to raise more funds for Aspire, the spinal injuries charity.
Her challenge this year: the Thames Marathon, 13km from Henley-on-Thames to Marlow — and she’s almost halfway there already. On Saturday 17 June she took part in the Cotswold Big Swim Festival and came first for her age group in the 5km swim, completing 5 laps of Lake 32 in the Cotswold Water Park in just under 2 hours. She’s training regularly at the Water Park, increasing her distance each week as she builds up towards the 13km marathon.
