The creativity that #SalisburysGotTalent has unleashed has been quite remarkable. Licensed Lay Minister Yvonne Allen has written of the unique way St Giles', Great Wishford, invested their £10.
What a wonderful turnout for our outdoor evening service at St Giles’, Great Wishford, on 7 August. Villagers and many from further afield in the Benefice joined us to sing their hearts out on a balmy summer’s evening.
We had wonderful musical support from talented friends playing the electric organ, ukuleles, and mouth organ. It was the perfect setting for praise, poetic reflections and Pimms - even the dogs who joined us seemed to enjoy the atmosphere (and the snack treats!).
On the subject of talent, the Pimms was courtesy of one of Bishop Stephen’s £10 ‘talents’, given out at his inauguration service for people to take away and multiply, as illustrated in the parable of the talents. Our donated talent multiplied 10 times to produce a very generous collection of over £100, £55 of which went to Salisbury Samaritans.
It was of course very much a team effort. Our thanks go to all who helped set it up, to Bishop Stephen for the talent, and to the Lord for the sunshine and gentle breeze as we sat in the shade of the huge yew tree.
