News from the Church of the Good Shepherd:
"An exciting new community building is opening at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Poole’s Herbert Avenue. Over the last twelve months, people passing by have seen the 1931 timber building demolished and a new church building (pictured above) emerging to take its place – a similar shape but larger and with top quality modern facilities.
The church also has a new Minister, the Reverend Debbie Smith, who says “It’s a great time to join The Church of the Good Shepherd, as we begin a new phase of church life serving the local community in Jesus’ name.
We look forward to throwing the doors open on Sunday 6th October and to a range of events in the opening week and beyond”. Activities in opening week, all open to anyone, will be:
• Sunday 6th October, 10.30am – Opening Service, followed by refreshments
• Monday 7th October, 10am to 12 noon – Drop in coffee morning
• Tuesday 8th October, 2pm to 5pm – Drop in tea and cake
• Wednesday 9th October, 7pm to 9pm – Drop in drinks & nibbles
• Saturday 12th October, 6pm to 10pm – Party & barn dance (tickets £5) In addition to church events, the new building will be available to hire for a variety of community events.
The application for planning permission was reported in the Daily Echo on 4 February 2022. The new building meets all the latest environmental standards and includes solar panels, underfloor heating, air sourced heat pumps, excellent insulation and zero gas consumption."
