Cycle of Prayer 12-18 August

Reading this week's prayers is Miriam Longfoot. Miriam works for the DBF as the Governance and Pastoral Planning Manager. She assists parishes with Church Representation Rules (including electoral roll, elections and APCMs), general governance queries, data protection and GDPR. In her spare time Miriam enjoys historical reanactments!

Our Lord and our God, 

Thank you for the communities of Gillingham, Milton on Stour and Silton, Blackmore Vale Deanery and its Clergy: Tim Heaton, Angus Mayhew. Licensed Lay Minister: Barbara Priest. 

We pray that God will bless those who are interested in the Rector vacancy.

Today Lord,  

We pray for HMP Guy's Marsh, Blackmore Vale Deanery and its Chaplain: Tony Oehring.  

We pray for the chaplaincy team as they provide pastoral care in challenging times for the prison service.   

We pray that the inmates will turn to Christ, find fresh courage, hope and peace. God, build up your worshipping community so all can witness the love of you in times of darkness.

Lord God, 

We pray today for The Dean of Guernsey, Tim Barker.  

We give thanks to God for new clergy appointments.  

We pray for the newly appointed Eleanor White, Deanery Children’s Connector whose focus is to strengthen, inspire and encourage churches in the Deanery to take part in mission and ministry amongst children and families. We pray for her to be blessed with wisdom, creativity and courage as she helps churches discern imaginative ways to work with children.  

We pray too for the role of a Deanery Youth Connector to be filled.  

In our prayers for Episcopal Churches in South Sudan and Sudan: We pray for the Rt Rev Jackson Aripa George Gabriel, Assistant Bishop of Juba in South Sudan.

Our God, 

Thank you for The Blessed Virgin Mary Alderney, Guernsey Deanery  

We give thanks to God for the various clergy who have provided excellent cover during the vacancy period. We pray for the Ministry team in Alderney who have worked hard and with great grace during this time, for rest and refreshment. We pray the role of vicar to St Anne’s Church will be filled soon and ask God to be at work in this appointment process.

Loving Father, 

We thank you for the community of St Matthew, Cobo, Guernsey. 

We pray for all visitors on holiday in Cobo - for refreshment and renewal.  

We pray for clergy Revd Gill Nobes and Revd Jim Sykes, for the development of our mission action plan and our new family worship as we seek to make Jesus known.

Jesus Christ, 

We pray today for the community of Forest, Guernsey and its Clergy: Claire Claxton. Licensed Lay Minister: Margaret Boden-Heaume.  

We pray for:  

• Forest Deanery as they seek to find new ways of ministering to families   

• links with the parish schools: Forest Primary and Le Rondin   

• efforts to support those with dementia and their carers

On today, Twelfth Sunday after Trinity  

We pray your blessing upon St Andrew, Guernsey Deanery and its Clergy: Tim Barker, Juliette Robilliard.  

We give thanks for the two new members of the Church Management Committee who bring many additional gifts towards the care and oversight of the church community.  

We pray that the role of People’s Warden at St Andrew’s will be filled, to facilitate greater liaison with the Parish Douzaine, as we discern the next steps to create a hospitality area and facilities within the church.
