The Coronation of King Charles III
On 6 May 2023, the coronation of King Charles III will take place at Westminster Abbey in London. We know that many churches are planning to celebrate this occasion with services, prayers, and events. This page will share all the resources and news available to help you in the lead-up to the Coronation Weekend
The Royal Family have announced plans for a special weekend of activities that will include shared community lunches and activities to help inspire community spirit. You can read these here.
Key moments
Saturday 6 May
The Coronation takes place at Westminster Abbey, conducted by The Archbishop of Canterbury. Could your church livestream it and invite people to come and watch it together?
Sunday 7 May
Bring your neighbours and community together to share friendship, food and fun with a Coronation Big Lunch.
Monday 8 May
Members of the public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas. Why not host a bell-ringing taster session?
Consider how your church can take advantage of these opportunities. We would love to hear about your plans, so that we can help to publicise them and share your weekend pictures across Grapevine and our social media.

Daily Prayers for the Coronation of King Charles III
The Church of England has created a daily prayer book to mark the coronation. This booklet is designed to be read each day from Easter Day (9 April) to Coronation Day (6 May). It includes a daily theme, reflection and prayer and gives the opportunity to pray for The King, our nation and the world, explore the symbolism of the Coronation service, and reflect on Jesus. The book can be read in churches, in a group setting, or as individuals.
