Salisbury Cathedral Confirmations

Photographed: Alex, one of the confirmation candidates with Bishop Robert, Assistant Bishop and previous Bishop of Exeter and The Dean, Nick Papadopulos.

Fifty candidates were confirmed in a moving service at Salisbury Cathedral on Saturday. The youngest was aged just 11 and the oldest was 63! Confirmation is an important marker on someone’s journey to faith when people commit their lives to following Jesus. Six of the candidates were also baptised first, before the confirmation. The Cathedral was packed with friends, family and supporters of the candidates.

The Bishop of Ramsbury, Dr Andrew Rumsey, preached and moved during the service from the West End door, to the font, and then to the altar – his movement symbolising the pilgrimage of faith. He told the congregation that “today is not he finish line, but the beginning”. Congratulations to all those confirmed! If you would like to explore confirmation please get in touch with your local priest.
