St Peter Stourton Caundle applied for a grant from the Aldhelm Mission Fund to develop a new community outreach cafe in the village, called The Beehive which meets in the village hall every Thursday. This project has been led and managed by Rachel Page, Lay Pastoral Assistant, with the support of her husband, Rob and a small team.
The project has been a huge success with the cafe attracting over 40 or more people of all age groups. It’s been so successful that it is now making a profit and gave £600 to the PCC which will be added towards paying Parish Share. It is also helping the Village Hall which was struggling as it has to pay a regular rent.
From February, St Peter’s will also be launching its new Saturday Breakfast Church, Jesus and Jam which will take place in the church, aimed particularly at the many young families now coming to the community cafe. Thank you to all the team at St Peters for #MakingJesusKnown in your community.
