Synod approved the budget for the diocese for 2024, which for the first time in years does not plan for a deficit
“Our nation is going to become more fractious, more polarised, less generous, and less honest as the next election approaches. As Christians, we have a higher calling. Do we respond with our own divisions, or do we model Gospel values to our desperate nation?”
Bishop’s senior staff visited La More Prison in Jersey on 10 October during their annual residential meeting, which also coincided with the national ‘Prisons Week’ initiative. Senior staff were led in worship by prisoners in the prison chapel, based on theme of Prisons Week this year which is: Look up”, using Psalm 19 as its focal point. (The heavens declare the glory of the Lord)
We are grieved and deeply concerned at the violence in Israel and Gaza, and we unequivocally condemn the attacks by Hamas. We pray for those who are mourning, those who are injured, and all those fearing for their safety.
The Calne St Mary bells, clock and tower project got underway in September 2022, following 10 years of planning and fundraising.
It was wonderful to commission eight new headteachers from primary schools across the diocese, and to welcome the new Diocesan Director of Education Katie Fitzsimmons at Choral Evensong in Salisbury Cathedral on Thursday 28th September 2023.
More than 90 people joined a conversation about Making Jesus Known in a meeting in Wimborne Poole and North Bournemouth.

On Friday 22 September, members of the DAC (Diocesan Advisory Committee), Architects, Parishioners, and PCC members gathered to celebrate the joy in the completion of renovation projects, whether that be replacing boilers or adding extensions all projects, completed through the approval of the DAC across the diocese.
