Young people finding God in our churches as report finds 'quiet revival'

Bible Society report showing numbers of 18-24 year olds exploring faith is evidenced in our diocese, with stories of young people turning to God in churches from Melksham and Trowbridge to Poole.

Growing Leaders, Growing Faith: Spring 2025 Update

A course to transform the approach of leaders to supporting young people’s faith formation is underway in the south west of England. A pilot of the Growing Faith Strategic Leaders Programme (GFSLP) is being led by the Diocese of Bath and Wells in partnership with the Dioceses of Bristol, Exeter, Salisbury and Truro, and the Growing Faith Foundation of the Church of England. A key goal of the regional pilot is to increase accessibility to the course, especially for largely rural dioceses.

Respond to uncertainty with faith, not certainty, urges Bishop Stephen at synod

“The danger with uncertain times, is that we seek comfort in certainty,” said Bishop Stephen in his address to synod at the weekend. In the context of a rise in extremism and conflict, aided by the increasing ‘echo chambers’ of some media channels, we need to respond with faith, he said.

As part of our diocesan vision that through Making Jesus Known, all may flourish and grow, the family of churches centred on St Thomas’ in Trowbridge has continued to invest in young people and children and seen them thrive, all made possible by dedicated teams of volunteers as well as previous part time youth workers.

An article written by two Salisbury Sixth Form students, Lena and Freya. Bishops Wordsworths Sixth Form and Salisbury Sixth Form came together on the 12th of February 2025 to hold a debate on the subject of assisted dying, specifically, if terminal illness justifies the ending of a person's life at their request.
