Seven new canons admitted to Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons

Seven new canons were admitted to Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons at the invitation of Bishop Stephen on 4 October, during Evensong. The canons were the first to be installed since Bishop Stephen began his work in the diocese.  


Sherborne’s Rural Day

Over 60 lay and ordained members of rural churches gathered at Kingston Maurward College to share ideas and network during the Sherborne’s Rural Day last Saturday. 


A Community Effort: Urchfont’s new ‘Living Churchyard'

Urchfont Church embarked on their mission to re-wild a section if their churchyard as part of the Living Churchyard Project; a community-led response to the issues of loss and biodiversity, habitat and species in Britain’s churchyards.

If your church is thinking of restoring its church bells, this one is for you. After five years of planning and fundraising, work has finally started on the Calne St Mary, Clock and Bells. The project costs an estimated £260,000.

Today the Diocese received the publication of the Past Cases Review 2 (PCR2) national report on the Church of England, along with feedback from our local PCR2 inspection.   


A Service to Celebrate 36 Years of Service

Last Sunday a special service was held to celebrate the longstanding verger ministry of Clive Cherrett, who has served at Lady St Mary church Wareham for the past 36 years.
