Clergy from the Diocese of Salisbury attend climate protest

Last weekend saw clergy from the Diocese of Salisbury, amongst many others at a large, peaceful, climate protest in London. Parliament Square was filled with people who want the government to do more to address the clima.


The Friends of Salisbury Cathedral - Secret Gardens of the Close

There will be nine gardens open around Salisbury Cathedral Close, showcasing a host of beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. These are private gardens, so this is a rare opportunity to step beyond the garden gate, said Friends’ Chairman, Duncan Glass.


Chalke Deanery - South Sudan link Easter update

The Chalke Deanery has been linked to the remote Diocese of Cueibet in South Sudan through the Chalke-Cueibet Partnership since 2012. The link has allowed for many joined activities over the years including annual visits by groups from the Deanery to run clergy conferences and monitor developments, the sponsoring of students pastors at college, the building of a church primary school and assistance with a range of agricultural projects.  


The Pachamama Project in Dilton Marsh

On Saturday 25 March, twenty-five ladies and one young lad arrived at the Memorial Hall, Dilton Marsh, equipped with sewing machines and scissors to help at Sewing Day number four.   The event, organised in joint with the Holy Trinity Church & Eco Church, was aimed at sewing reusable sanitary pads in support of the Pachamama Project charity, a Bristol-based, volunteer-run organisation that fights to end period poverty. 


Churches Count on Nature, Love your Burial Ground

‘Our churchyards are wonderful places.  This project encourages all ages to engage with the places of peace they are, and the wildlife contained within them.  There are some great resources and I would encourage churches, to perhaps explore their churchyard afresh on a Sunday morning, have a treasure hunt, or maybe add up how many different species thrive there.’  Bishop Karen said. Warm Spaces success

Yetminster and Hilfield was just one of the parishes who took part in last winter's Warm Spaces initiative, and who were able to take advantage of the National Church's grants towards costs.  


CMS Certificate in Pioneer Mission Southwest Hub

At the start of April, the Southwest Hub (which the diocese is a part of) hosted their award ceremony for 20 graduates of The Church Mission Society Pioneer Mission course.
