Dean Nick's Lent Letter

I’ve been worshipping at a variety of places here, among them the Anglican Cathedral of St George. Coincidentally, the building was consecrated in 1898 by the then Bishop of Salisbury, John Wordsworth. I sit next to Bishop Wordsworth’s memorial in Salisbury Cathedral at Morning Prayer every day. So in that sense I feel very close to home.

Last Thursday over 40 church and school leaders attended the Missional Pathway Induction Day at Emmaus House. Missional Pathways sit within the Creative Partnerships in Local Mission strand of the Diocesan vision to Make Jesus Known.

'Come and Play' at Cerne Abbas St Mary’s Church

Every Monday morning, Cerne Abbas St Mary’s Church host 'Come and Play'. This is targeted at young families, timed to start after drop off at the School. The church is transformed, by an amazing group of dedicated volunteers, into toddler paradise and the parents have opportunity for conversation and mutual support.

Worshippers flock to Salisbury Cathedral over Christmas

In the first lockdown, Salisbury Cathedral had to turn worshippers away, due to being closed because of government rules, at Christmas services last month, the Cathedral had to turn a hundred away as pews were packed to full capacity.

On Sunday 14 January after more than 10 years of planning, selecting and commissioning designs, Salisbury Cathedral formally unveiled two new altars, which were consecrated by Bishop Stephen during the 10.30 Eucharist.
